LAWRENCE JOSEPH WRAY

June 8, 1936 — November 21, 2010

Lawrence Joseph Larry Wray, 74, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, November 21, 2010, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born on June 8, 1936, in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of the late Charles Leonard and Edith DeEtte Dalrymple Wray. Larry was a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the United States Army and served in the United States Air Force Reserve. Larry was also a Major with the Missouri Ranger Service. After his military career, Larry spent forty years in Law Enforcement service, including retiring from the Orange County Sheriffs Department in California as a deputy and serving as the Chief of Police in Freeburg. Currently, Larry was the business manager with Mid-Missouri Auto Repair in Holts Summit.
Larry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was the Association President of the National Peace Officer and Fire Fighters Association. He also was a member of the Retired and Disabled Police of America, 32nd Free Masons, and the Elks Lodge. Larry loved to play guitar and jazz music, restore cars, and was an avid gun collector.
Survivors include: three children, Victoria Wray, Jefferson City; Adam (Lisa) Wray, Jefferson City; Patrick (Laura) Wray, Rhonert Park, Calif.; one sister, Cozette Dalrymple-Wray, State of California; and eleven grandchildren.
