Karen Ann Redel

Karen Ann Redel, 68, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully Monday, April 2, 2018, at SSM Health St. Marys Hospital with her family at her side. She was born October 17, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Frank and Irene (Golden) Brockling. She was united in marriage on January 26, 1974, in St. Louis, to Dennis Joseph Redel who survives at the home. After marriage, Karen worked for the State Park Board and Home Savings and Loan. She then focused on being a loving mother to her three children. Karen later worked as a teacher for the K-Plus Program at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph where she served as the secretary for the parish counsel and was co-chair for the Christmas Bazaar. She volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the Samaritan Center. Karen enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, gardening, reading, solving puzzles, and traveling. Her greatest passion was her family. Survivors include her husband, Dennis Redel, Jefferson City; Carrie (Joel) Mermis, Leawood, KS; Ashley (Jerrod) Atteberry, Jefferson City; Bryan Redel, Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Mason Mermis, Grayson Atteberry, Ethan Mermis, Graeme Atteberry; and two siblings, Michelle (Keith) Israel, Bainbridge Island, WA; and Mark (Jenna) Brockling, Lake St. Louis. Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Cathedral of St. Joseph.
