Joseph Henry Knollmeyer

November 5, 1959 — February 27, 2022

Joseph Henry Knollmeyer, 62, of Jefferson City, MO passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Capitol Region Medical Center.

He was born November 5, 1959 in Jefferson City to the late John and Eleanor Ann (Sturm) Knollmeyer. Joe grew up in Linn, MO and was a 1978 graduate of Helias Catholic High School. He went on to attend Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla on a football scholarship. He played football for four years and helped coach during his fifth year. Joe graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He returned home and became a third generation co-owner of Hometown Building Center in Linn with his brothers, John and Tom.

On November 25, 1995, Joe married Janice Kammerich at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Boonville, MO. They settled in Jefferson City raising their children, Anna, Joey, and Sarah.

Joe was enthusiastic in learning and researching how to make things better. He was in the process of writing books on things he was passionate about such as alternative energy, electricity, and politics. He was a “Jack of All Trades” with the uncanny ability to always find a way. He was always helping others with their projects; designing, tinkering, welding, fixing, or brainstorming ideas. Joe was never one to sit still. When he did relax, you could find him listening to talk radio, watching football or his favorite reruns of Perry Mason.

Joe was very active in his community. In his younger years, he helped with the Jaycee Fair. He was a member of the Linn Lions Club where he provided sound/PA equipment for the Osage County Fair every year. He had a love for his country and he was also involved in various patriotic associations. Joe loved classic cars. He enjoyed helping his dad restore an old Chevrolet and going to car shows together. Joe collected older model Cadillacs that he enjoyed driving and working on.

Joe’s greatest love was his family. He took great pride in passing on his knowledge, skills, and experience to his children. Joe delighted in working with his children in the family business. He enjoyed coaching his kids in soccer and basketball when they were younger and supported their athletics and high school band functions as they grew older. His love and care for his family will be greatly missed. Joe loved going on family vacations to Branson and Jellystone Park in St. Louis in the family motor home. There was never a family vacation without him tinkering or fixing things in the motor home.

Survivors include his wife, Janice, their children, Anna, Joey, and Sarah all of Jefferson City, three brothers, John (Lori) of Linn, Tim (Tonya) of Bartlesville,OK, Tom (Amy) of Jefferson City, and one sister, Kriste (Wayne) Ludwig of St. Louis, and nieces and nephews.
