Joseph Henry Bruns

June 21, 1913 — January 14, 2002

Mr. Bruns was the son of Anthony Joseph Bruns and Cecelia Kuehn Bruns. He was married on November 14, 1940 in Jefferson City to Katharine Tate Keenan who died July 31, 1975. He was married on August 1, 1976 in Brookfield to Jacqueline Davis Prenger who died in May, 1977. He was married on June 21, 1978 in Bonnets Mill to Lillian Kuper Scott who died July 1, 2000. He is survived by five daughters, Mary Kay Ryan, Jefferson City; Delores A. "Dodie" Truemper, St. Louis; Barbara E. Criswell, Marshall; Terri Deer, Warrensburg; and Laurie J. Wenzel, Warrenton; two sons, Joseph K. "Jody" Bruns, St. Louis; and Dennis A. Bruns, Camdenton; nineteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Marshall; Knights of Columbus; Legion of Mary; Marshall Chamber of Commerce; was a former Scout Leader with the Boy Schouts of America; had been active in the Democratic Party in Saline County; and was active in Senior Citizen work with Hamilton Towers. Memorials are suggested to the Samaritian Center, or to the American Diabetes Association. He was a graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended Lincoln University. He owned and operated the IGA Foodliner North in Marshall from 1953 to 1969. He was then employed as a Meat Inspector with the United States Department of Agriculture from 1969 to 1978.
