John Joseph Renn

John Joseph Renn, 74, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. He was born May 7, 1942, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Arthur Joseph and Mary W. (Mortemeyer) Renn. He was a 1960 graduate of Helias High School and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Business from Lincoln University. John served his country with the United States Army from 1961-1963. He was united in marriage on September 5, 1964, in Jefferson City to Betty Ruth Cavender who preceded him in death on September 6, 2010. John worked as an auditor for the Missouri Department of Employment Security and for Ramada Hotel. He also worked as a bartender for various bars including Aztec Lounge and the Jefferson City Country Club. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph. He enjoyed being on Facebook and cooking. Survivors include one son, Mark Renn, Jefferson City; two sisters, Mary Ann Bohning, Jefferson City; Barbara (Louis) Eiken, Taos; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother-in-law, Richard Bohning. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Joshua Duncan officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to Helias Foundation, 1106 Swifts Highway, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
