John Allen Rockwell, Jr.

John Allen Rockwell, Jr., 84, of Jefferson City passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020, at home while recovering from a fall and surgery.

John was born on November 20, 1934, in Kane, Pennsylvania to his parents John Allen Rockwell, Sr. and his mother Rachel Rockwell.

He was united in marriage on January 24, 1961, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Carolyn Kidd who survives at the home.

John Allen Rockwell, Jr. was a loving husband and devoted father who served in the United States Air National Guard during the Berlin Crisis.

He graduated from the University of Arkansas with two Masters degrees. John was a professor at the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith teaching physical science. He later started as a Quality Control Supervisor at Cheseborough-Ponds (now Unilever) in Jefferson City where he had a long and productive career.

He loved owning his sailboat, the Blade II, and participating with the Lake Ozark Yacht Club. In retirement, he was a productive small business owner and a fun-loving, devoted grandfather. John enjoyed doing genealogy and investigating information on his computer.

He is survived by the love of his life, Carolyn (Kidd) Rockwell with 59 years of marriage; his children John Brian Rockwell (LeAnn) of Jefferson City, Missouri, Rebecca Carol Brandt (Kenny) of Jefferson City, Missouri and Benjamin Allen Rockwell (Cheryl) of San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Megan Brondel (Nathan), John A. Rockwell, III, and Hannah Rockwell, Christin Smith (Curtis Evans) and Erika Smith, Elizabeth Rockwell and Andrew Rockwell; three great-grandchildren, Quinn Evans, Hunter Evans, and Theo Brondel; one sister, Alice Betsy Stone (W.J.); and two brothers, Walter Rockwell (Renee) and Richard Carlson.

He is preceded in death by his parents John Allen Rockwell, Sr. and Rachel Smith Owen; one grandson, Evan Rockwell; his sisters, Jean Wirt (Vernon), Madge Spivey (Vernon) and Mary Carlson.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Trevor Dancer officiating.

The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are required while in attendance.

Burial with military honors will be in Longview Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
