James Harvey Killion

August 25, 1940 — August 2, 2014

James (Jim) Harvey Killion, 73, of Jefferson City, was carried by Jesus to his eternal home on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born August 25, 1940, to Wayne Owen Killion of Richmond, Missouri and Eula Laws Royer of Buena Park, California who preceded him in death. Jim was also preceded in death by brothers Ronald Wayne Killion, of Centertown Missouri, and Lyle Laws Killion, of North Hollywood California. Jim attended Cabool High School, and graduated from Anaheim High School, Anaheim California. Jim enlisted in the United States Navy June 20, 1958, and was honorably discharged on May 14, 1964. He was a dental assistant, while serving in the Navy. Jim was united in marriage to Linda Lee Rice of Long Beach, California, in Las Vegas Nevada on December 11, 1965. Jim was employed by the Missouri Department of Corrections for 25 years, working in Transportation, Potosi Maximum Security Prison and the Fulton Receiving Diagnostic Center. He was also employed by the University of Missouri Athletics Department for 19 years part-time, as a supervisor for Event Staff where he continued to work until his death. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Jefferson City. Jim became an Ordained Deacon at First Baptist Church of Iberia Missouri. Jim loved to be active and some of his favorite activities throughout the years were coaching his sons' baseball teams, bowling, traveling with his wife, playing Bingo at McDonalds and mostly visiting with people as he had never met a stranger. He adored his Granddaughters and loved spending time with them. He loved his family and his church. Jim will be greatly missed by all but we take peace and comfort in knowing he is now at peace and home with his Maker. Jim leaves behind a loving wife Linda, of Jefferson City, son Eric Killion and future daughter-in-law Cara Champlain both of Jefferson City and a daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Byron Pittman of Jefferson City. Jim also leaves behind five Granddaughters: Danielle, Jordan, Kaia, Tina, and Cheyenne as well as many other loving family members. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Cornerstone Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian K. Credille officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Oakdale Cemetery in Cabool, Missouri on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
