JOSEPH JOHN KREMER

Joseph John Kremer, Sr., 85, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, at St. Joseph Bluffs.
He was born on March 31, 1925, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Joseph H. and Josephine M. Schmitz Kremer. Joseph was a graduate of St. Peters Grade School and High School. He was united in marriage on December 28, 1946, in Jefferson City to Patricia Alma Kuhler who preceded him in death on October 13, 2002. Joseph served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a radio operator and gunner with the 91st Bomb Group on B-17 bombers. He completed 35 missions over Nazi occupied territory in Germany. He also served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Joseph worked with the Missouri National Guard from 1947-1985. He was appointed the first Command Sergeant Major in the State of Missouri in 1963 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, VFW, and American Legion. In his early years Joseph played baseball for the American Legion, Ban Johnson, and the Red Birds.
Survivors include: three children, Joseph (Tani) Kremer, Jr., Springfield, Mo; Karen (Steve) Maier, Leawood, KS; Cheryl (Mark) Stoner, Jefferson City; four grandchildren, Nathaniel Kremer, Courtney Kremer, Kyle Blaise, Jack Blaise; two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Aubrey; and one sister, Ann Conlon, Loveland, Colo. He was preceded in death by an infant sister and a brother, Paul Kremer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Clarence Wiederholt officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Those wishing to email condolences to the family may do so at the www.dulletrimble.com website.
