JOHN PATRICK HEALEY

December 27, 1933 — July 2, 2008

John Patrick Healey, 74, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on Dec. 27, 1933, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Daniel A. and Mildred Ammermon Healey. He was married on Aug. 19, 1967, in Jefferson City to Elaine Suzanne Hasenbeck who survives at the home. Mr. Healey was a 1951 graduate of St. Peter High School and received the Bachelor of Music degree from Northeast Missouri State University. He served as a music teacher with the Jefferson City Public School System for ten years, and as Manager with TCI Cablevision for three years. He retired in 2002 as a Block Grant Coordinator with the Missouri Department of Economic Development where he had been employed for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Healey was a member and former music minister at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; co-founder and conductor for thirty-eight years of the Jefferson City Cantorum; former conductor of the Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra and long time member of its brass section. He served as musical director for several Little Theater musical productions; performed actively until the time of his death with Dixieland and Jazz groups throughout the state; and was a long time member of Musicians Local 217. Other survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Kelly and Ron Shaw, Albuquerque, N.M.; and Molly Healey, Springfield, Mo.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Brian Healey, Omaha, Neb.; Robert and Velma Healey, Rapid City, S.D.; and Dr. John and Carolyn Healey, Alexandria, Va.; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann Matheis, Overland Park, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Healey and Daniel Healey. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the J.
