JOHN BERNARD WELCH

John Bernard J.B. Welch, 74, of St. Martins, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on June 19, 1930 in Cole County, the son of John Joseph and Catherine A. Martin Welch. He was married on May 3, 1958 in Jefferson City to Billie Sue Jones who died on Dec. 11, 1993. Services will be 1:30 Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donors choice. A United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Welch was a cattle farmer in Cole County for many years and a carpenter with Harold Welch Construction Company. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church and Centertown American Legion Post. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Edie Welch, Jefferson City; his daughter, Diana L. Biggs, New Bloomfield; five grandchildren, Scott Biggs, Kelly Biggs, Lindsay Welch, Zachary Welch, and Courtney Welch; and three brothers, Harold Welch, Donald Welch, and Robert Welch, all of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
