James Michael Graf, 60, of Marco Island, Fla., formerly of Jefferson City, died Friday, December 18, 2009, on Marco Island.
He was born on January 28, 1949, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Eugene and Elizabeth Brown Graf. His mother survives in Jefferson City. He was a 1967 graduate of Central High School, Kansas City, Mo., and a 1974 graduate of the University of Missouri. He was a sergeant with United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict from 1967 to 1970 for which service he was awarded the Purple Heart. A true patriot with a great love for America, his greatest passion in life was for his comrades in arms and their devoted defense of democracy and peace. Mr. Graf was a gifted salesman throughout his life and at one point was employed with Modern Business Systems of Jefferson City. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith.
In addition to his mother, other survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Graf, Chicago, Ill.; Tracy Graf, Denver, Colo.; and their mother, Charlotte Goedde Graf, St. Louis; one sister, Donna Mueller, Jefferson City; two brothers, Jeff Graf, Jefferson City; and John Graf, Los Angeles, Calf.; his significant other, Margie Klasa, Marco Island; and his trusty dog, Buddy.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. David J. Viet officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Vietnam Veterans of America, 8605 Cameron Street, Suite 400, Silver Spring, Md. 20910. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
