JAMES ELLIS ETTER

June 14, 1925 — August 25, 2007

James Ellis Etter, 81, of Brazito, died Saturday, August 25, 2007, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. He was born June 14, 1926, in Eugene, the son of Paul Jasper and Rella Rush Etter. He was married in Salem, Arkansas to Marjorie Edith Opel who preceded him in death on August 18, 2005. A veteran of the US Navy during World War II, Mr. Etter graduated from Central Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In his early years he was a teacher for the Missouri Department of Education. The majority of his career he worked for the Missouri Department of Vocational Rehabilitation where he retired in 1988. He also owned and operated the Club Brasytoe in Brazito for 12 years. He was a member of the Friedens United Church of Christ in Brazito, James enjoyed fishing and especially family gatherings. Other survivors include, two sons, Kenton Etter, and Kim Paul Etter, both of Jefferson City; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kathy and Randy Tiberghien, California, MO; and Karen Breen, Soldotna, Alaska; nine grandchildren, Lori and Kenny Lucas, Michelle Etter, Doug Etter, Angela and Bryan Dickneite, Kaycee Breen, Kelly Hill, Gina Mauller, Lucas Tiberghien, and Lee Tiberghien; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Danny Etter and his wife Fran, Holt Summit; one sister, Rebecca Clemons and her husband Robert, Kearney, MO; and one brother-in-law, James Dawson, Eugene. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, Hobart Etter, Samuel Etter, and Kern Etter; and one sister, Pauline Dawson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday August 29, 2007, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Carole Barner officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donors choice.
