She was born in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Kroeger) Eggen. Irma graduated from St. Peter High School in 1953 and was united in marriage on May 5, 1956 to Alfred Hugo Schmitz, who survives at their home. She loved to bake and cook in her kitchen, and enjoyed sharing her cookies and sweet rolls. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and time at the Lake.
