Irene was a dedicated wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She worked hard to provide for her children, spending many long hours doing farm chores, gardening, canning, sewing, and cooking. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She loved her work and was proud to give her children and grandchildren hand-made quilts. She also gave many quilts to friends and raffles, never selling a quilt.
