Irene Thompson, 84, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born on May 9, 1925, in Guthrie, Mo, the daughter of the late James Brooks and Bertha Earl Vaughn Gray. Irene was a graduate of New Bloomfield High School. She was united in marriage on June 25, 1948, in Holts Summit to Kenneth C. Thompson who preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2000. Irene worked for United Telephone Co. as a telephone operator for over thirty years.
Survivors include: one daughter, Joyce Kaye Meister, Globe, Ariz.; one son, Randy (Jennifer) Thompson, Sedalia, Mo.; six grandchildren, Jason Meister, Crystal Plehn, Barry Thompson, Jeremy Thompson, Chelsea Thompson, Kyle Thompson; four great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Margie Janssen, Jefferson City; Nellie Jones, Mexico, Mo.; Myrtle Lee Copeland, Globe, Ariz.; Bonnie Bishop, Lawrence, Ks.; Jessie Mae Snow, Holts Summit; Dorothy Faye Farmer, Clark, Mo.; four brothers, John Gray, Fulton; Billy Gray, Fulton; Robert Gray, Fulton; and Paul Gray, New Bloomfield. She was preceded in death by her former husband; one sister, Lorene Walther; and one brother, James Gray.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Towns officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus, 2418 Hyde Park Road, Jefferson City, Mo 65109.
