IRENE LOUISE TEMMEN

Irene Louise Temmen, 72, of Westphalia, died Friday, October 9, 2009, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born on June 22, 1937,in Folk, Mo, the daughter of Anton and Loretta Massman Schwartz. Her mother survives in Westphalia. She was united in marriage on October 24, 1959, in Folk, to William Frank Temmen who survives at the home. A homemaker all her life, Mrs. Temmen worked as a cook with Fatima High School and the Westphalia Inn. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, St. Anns Sodality, the social concerns committee at the church, and the Friendship Club. Irene enjoyed quilting, traveling, and spoiling her grandchildren. Most people will remember Irene by her special coconut cream pies that she loved to bake.
Other survivors include: six children, Carol (Doug) Distler, High Point, Mo; Doris Lueckenhoff, Wardsville; David (Donna) Temmen, Westphalia; Betty Temmen, Westphalia; Helen (Richard) Bower, Jefferson City; Amy (Rodney) Luebbering, Meta; ten grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Adam, Nathan, Nicole, Rachel, Morgan, Emma, Jacob, Addison; one sister, Joan (Walter) Berhorst, Westphalia; and three brothers, Walter (Teresa) Schwartz, Argyle; Jerry (Agnes) Schwartz, Westphalia; and David (Mary) Schwartz, Westphalia. She was preceded in death by her father; a grandson, William Rodney Luebbering; and a brother, James Schwartz.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-8 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic School, 123 East Main, P.O.
