Herbert Francis Redel

January 3, 1925 — July 25, 2014

Herbert Francis Redel, 89, of Jefferson City, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at Heisinger Bluffs. He was born January 3, 1925, in Westphalia, the son of the late Joseph and Clara (Borgmeyer) Redel. He was united in marriage in Westphalia during 1947 to Patricia Kathryn Schell who preceded him in death on January 2, 1983. He later was married to Annette Lutz. Mr. Redel was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II. In January of 1944, he was sent to England to join the 4th Infantry Division for the invasion of Normandy, France. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars and awarded a Purple Heart in August of 1944. Mr. Redel worked as a salesman for DeLong's Inc. for 45 years. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagle's. Survivors include: three children, Dennis (Karen) Redel, Jefferson City; Dianne Krone, Normal, Illinois; Daryl (Erica) Redel, Lee's Summit; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Redel, Lee's Summit; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; his son, Dale Redel; son-in-law, Paul Krone; four sisters, Ellenore Redel, Alice Woratzeck, Esther Plassmeyer, Elizabeth "Betty" Rehagen; and a brother, Vincent Redel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
