Helen E. Garcia, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at SSM Health St. Marys Hospital. She was born August 12, 1927, in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of the late Carmen and Rose (Encinas) Anguiano. Helen was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Los Angeles and a graduate of East Los Angeles College. She was united in marriage on October 15, 1950, in Los Angeles, to Gilbert L. Garcia, MD, who preceded her in death. Helen worked as a radiology lab technician at Belvedere Hospital and as an office manager working on medical insurance billing at La Puente Clinic. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed life fully until her health compromised her activities. In high school she was the Sergeant of the Girls Drill Team, and she earned a letterman sweater in tennis and basketball. Helens childhood home was filled with music. She played the piano while her father played the guitar, and her siblings played various instruments. She enjoyed gardening, taking walks, going to the beach and spending time with her family. In her later years, she took great pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren. She moved to Jefferson City with her daughter Cynthia and her family in 1998. She was active in exercise and other activities while living at Primrose Retirement Center, earning her the Most Enthusiastic Award. Helen was a very giving and loving woman, ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and warmly touching the hearts of all who met her. Survivors include her two children, SMSgt Gilbert Garcia USAF (ret.) and wife Kannika, of Panama City, FL; Cynthia Thompson and husband Reese, of Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Major Gilbert Garcia USAF (Luisa), Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, UK; Major Garrett Garcia USAF (Samantha) Washington, D.C.; William Locke Thompson, Jefferson City; Ian A. Thompson, Kansas City; Rebecca R. Thompson, Brooklyn, NY; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Garcia, Coral Garcia, Noah Garcia; and a daughter-in-law, Julie Garcia.
