HUBERT JOSEPH KRAUTMANN

Hubert Joseph Krautmann, 90, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Heisinger Bluffs. He was born on March 10, 1917, in Bonnots Mill, MO, the son of John Hubert and Anna Gertrude Schmitz Krautmann. He was married on Sept. 9, 1945, in Ferriday, LA, to Mary Wanda Knight who survives at the home. He was a 1938 graduate of Loose Creek High School, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in 1942 from the University of Missouri. Mr. Krautmann served as Mid-Missouri Agricultural Engineering Specialist with the University of Missouri Agricultural Extension Service for twenty-nine years until retiring in 1976. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Quartermaster Corps, and later served as a Lieutenant Colonel with the Army Reserves. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church; Holy Name Society; Cole County Farm Bureau; Army Reserve Officer Association; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693; Cole County Extension Service; Roy Sone American Legion Post No. 5; and was a skilled woodworker. Other survivors include three sons and their wives, Dr. John J. and Chris Krautmann, Jefferson City; Dr. Paul J. and Suzanne Krautmann, Keene, NH; and Kevin F. and Sharon Krautmann, St. Joseph, MO; ten grandchildren, James (Andrea) Krautmann; Meghan (Brian) Riley; Brett Krautmann; Lauren Krautmann; Kurt Krautmann; Katherine (John) Houston; Charles Krautmann; Edward (Chelsea) Krautmann; Joshua Krautmann; and Matthew Krautmann; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Krautmann; and Jane Krautmann; and two brothers, Dr. Edmund J. Krautmann, Kansas City, KS; and Dr. Ben Krautmann, Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vincent Krautmann and Leo Krautmann; one sister, Sr. John Vincent, SSND; and four half-sisters, Theresa Stanton; Mary Jaegers; Sr. Mary Ona Krautmann, SSND; and Ann Meyer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
