HUBERT JOHN WOLKEN

July 23, 1915 — January 14, 2012

Hubert John Wolken, 96, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at St. Joseph Bluffs.
He was born on July 23, 1915, in Taos, Mo., the son of the late Joseph and Cecelia Heislen Wolken.
He was united in marriage on September 22, 1937, in Taos, to Myrina Helen Stegeman who preceded him in death on December 29, 1999.
Hubert was a lifetime printer starting his career in 1945 at Modern Litho Printing Company working for Tony Heisberger, Gasper Scuderi, and Dick and Jeanie Moore. He retired in December of 1980. He was instrumental in installing a German built printing press in 1951.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, the Legion of Mary, and was a Eucharistic Minister, and was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Hubert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed barbecuing on his grill that he and a friend built in 1962. His barbequing was enjoyed and praised by many. He also enjoyed gardening, bowling, horseshoes, and traveling with his beloved wife, Myrina.
Hubert was unselfish and generous and always had time to help people. Many people have been touched by his goodness.
Survivors include: four children, Ron Wolken, Jefferson City; Jo Ann (Bill) Wilson, Jefferson City; Betty (Robert) Snoddy, Franklin; Donna (Steve) Weiner, Overland Park, KS; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Weiner; infant sister, Brigetta Wolken; sister, Lidwina Bernskoetter; two brothers, Edwin and Raymond Wolken; a daughter-in-law, Charmaine Wolken; and a step-brother, Harry Talken.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Dylan Schrader, officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
