HOMER CARL STRADER

November 19, 1914 — January 16, 2006

Homer Carl Strader, 91, of Jefferson City, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on Nov. 19, 1914 in Des Arc, MO, the son of Homer Lee and Zella Lou Wallis Strader. He was married on Nov. 2, 1943 in Hutchinson, KS to Dorothy Velma Beckman who survives at the home. A 1933 graduate of Bismark, MO, High School, Mr. Strader was a World War II Veteran of the United State Navy serving in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a sales representative for many years with Meyer Schmidt Grocery, Bonne Terre, MO; H.J. Heinz Company; Sav-A-Stop; and Wetterau Foods from which he retired. He served as Doorkeeper with the Missouri House of Representatives from 1987 to 2001. He was a member of First United Methodist Church; Harmony Sunday School Class; Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5; and Jefferson City Host Lions Club. Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Lee and Patricia Strader, Jefferson City; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet Kay and Ken Rumsey, Severna Park, MD; five grandsons, Shawn Strader, Michael Strader, Christopher Rumsey, Jeff Rumsey, and A.J. Rumsey; two great-granddaughters, Amanda Rumsey and Madison Rumsey; and one brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Nancy Strader, Salt Lake City, UT. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Strader; and four sisters, Ruth Lucille Upchurch; Peggy Lou Strader; Kathryn Wallace; and Virginia Mason. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry E. Gallamore officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, 201 Monroe Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
