Herbert Joseph Fechtel, 80, of Westphalia, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at his residence. He was born April 26, 1929, in Westphalia, the son of Peter Joseph and Katie Baumhoer Fechtel. He was united in marriage on October 5, 1963, in Germantown, Mo, to Rosemary Frances Goth who survives at the home. A lifetime farmer, Herbert was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, Western Catholic Union, Knights of Columbus Council 1171, and Farm Bureau. Other survivors include: four daughters and three sons-in-law, Cathy and Jerry Braun, Osage Bend; Jane and John Hoeller, Koeltztown; Rita Fechtel, Westphalia; Darlene and Darryl Wolken, Westphalia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Peggy Fechtel, Westphalia; Mark and Amy Fechtel, Westphalia; ten grandchildren, Christopher Fechtel; Cheyenne Fechtel; Heather Wolken; Jesse Braun; Brennan Hoeller; Katie Fechtel; Brent Wolken; Cody Braun; Adrienne Fechtel; Carley Fechtel; and two sisters, Agatha Haselhorst, Taos; and Rosie Redel, Wardsville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Anna Fechtel; two brothers-in-law, Anton Haselhorst, Paul Redel; and a nephew, Elmer Haselhorst. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, with the Rev. Philip M. Kane officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic School, P.O Box 205, Westphalia, Mo 65085-0205.
