HELEN DEE WEILER

Helen Dee Weiler, 94, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged. She was born on October 5, 1909, in McGirk, the daughter of Thomas Edward and Catherine Horan Hartnett. She was married on November 8, 1938 in California, MO, to Bernard Weiler who died on October 31, 1950. Survivors include four nieces, Cathy Larsen Hastings (Thomas), Forest Park, IL; Rosemary Reed (Gary), Springfield; Margaret Kremer (William), Jefferson City; and Audrey Huhmann (Edward), Centertown; one nephew, Jerome Jerry Weiler (Loretta), Jefferson City; one great-niece, Jennifer Reed; and two great-nephews, Derek Ross and Ryan Reed. She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Thomas, and John Hartnett; and two sisters, M. Catherine Harnett Larsen; and Josephine Hartnett. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Martin Catholic School, 7206 St. Martins Avenue, Jefferson City, Mo 65109. Mrs. Weiler was a teacher at St. Martin Catholic School for several years; served as assistant secretary to Governor James Blair; and retired as shoe floor manager of Jones Department Store in Kansas City. From her husbands death in 1950 until her retirement in 1997, she managed the family farm near Centertown. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church; Ladies Sodality; Legion of Mary Auxiliary; seventy-three year member of Daughters of Isabella; was a long-time member of the St. Martin Quilting Club; and was a member of the 50 Plus Club.
