HAROLD DANA SPENCER

July 9, 1955 — February 20, 2008

Harold Dana Spencer, 52, of Holts Summit, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on July 9, 1955, in Grinnel, IA., the son of Harold Dana and JoAnn Carson Spencer, Sr. His father still survives in Red Oak, IA. He was united in marriage on March 20, 1981, in Red Oak, IA to Alice Lee Limkemann who survives at the home. Mr. Spencer worked for Villa Marie Nursing Home from Aug. 2003-Oct. 2005. From Oct. 2005-Oct. 2007, Harold worked for St. Marys Health Center which provided an amazing St. Marys staff, especially the Oncology Dept. who went above and beyond. Harold was an avid fisherman here on earth. Were assured that hes on the bank of the River of Life practicing catch and release until being re-united with his many fishing buddies. He also enjoyed camping which was always the favorite vacation. He worked in many nursing homes across the Midwest as care for the elderly held a special place in his heart. He also worked with the mentally impaired in Glenwood, IA., as well as at the State Hospital in Fulton. He had a love for people and was a deeply compassionate care giver. He always had a smile you could feel even through a phone call and never met a stranger. His family was truly blessed to have such a wonderful son, husband, and dad. He will be missed greatly but we have the assurance of seeing him again one day; then there will be no speech barriers and markers will be for art class! He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized on Sept. 13, 1992. Other survivors include: three daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer Palmer, Red Oak, IA; Whitni and Brien Powell, Waverly, IA; Mackenzie Spencer, of the home; two sons, Dakota Spencer; and Hunter Spencer, both of the home; five grandchildren; and one brother, Randy Spencer, Clarinda, IA. He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Scott Spencer. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Burcham and Rev. Kevin Weber officiating. Burial will be in Bull Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
