HAROLD ALEXANDER LAUF

Harold Alexander Lauf, 76, of Wardsville, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on May 11, 1931, in Franklin, MO the son of Alex Conrad and Heyronama Sophia Veltrop Lauf. He was married on Aug. 27, 1955, in Wardsville to Grace Helen VanLoo who survives at the home. Mr. Lauf was a 1949 graduate of St. Peter High School where he was captain of the football team. He was a United States Air Force veteran. Mr. Lauf was the owner and operator of Lauf Equipment from 1963 until his retirement. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, past President of Wardsville Lions Club, Cedar City Lions Club, Southwestern Dealers Association, charter member of Vitae Society, Helias Boosters, and coached little league baseball in Wardsville. He was a Eucharistic Minister, participated with Perpetual Adoration in Wardsville, and was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Other survivors include: one daughter, Mary Lewis, Jefferson City; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Dolores Lauf, Michael and Allison Lauf, and James and Betsy Lauf, all of Jefferson City; eleven grandchildren, Michelle Dampf; Sarah Black; Zachary Lauf; Sandra Cox; Matt Lewis; Patty Gaffke; Becky Lewis; Justin Lauf; Adrienne Lauf; Jonathan Lauf; and Elizabeth Lauf; eleven great-grandchildren; and three sisters and one brother-in-law, Kathleen Kuttenkuler, Jefferson City; Rita May, Cuba, MO; and Leah and Bob Schwartze, St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, Tommy Lauf; and a sister, Joan Nacy. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Vitae Caring Foundation, 1731 Southridge Dr., Jefferson City, Mo 65109; or to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 6418 Route W.
