Gertrude Cecilia Scruggs

She was born in St. Louis to Andrew L. and Elizabeth Tomsick Hilgert. She was married on June 28, 1941 in St. Clair to Herbert Arthur Scruggs who died on June 23, 1972. She is survived by one son, Robert Arthur Scruggs, Chula Vista, California; one daughter, Carol Elizabeth Pack-Meyer, Orangedale, Florida; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melody Ann Scruggs. She was employed as a civilian with the United States Army during World War II, and later with the Social Security Administration for twenty years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; a local chapter past president of the Naitonal Association of Retired Federal Employees; and was active in the Democratic Party. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice. She attended business college in St. Louis.
