Gerard G. Fick

Gerard G. Fick, 81, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on June 10, 1925, in Rich Fountain, MO, the son of Herman J. and Mary C. Klebba Fick. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946. Mr. Fick attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Rich Fountain and graduated from Conception College High School in Conception, MO and was a 1948 graduate of Jefferson City Junior College. On June 25, 1949, he was married in Freeburg, MO to Jeanette Poettgen, who survives at their home. Mr. Fick had a long career with the Jefferson City Housing Authority, serving as Deputy Director from 1960 until his retirement in 1987. He was recognized as the Outstanding City Employee in 1987. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and served as an usher and communion minister; Holy Name Society; 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Dan C. Coppin Post; Noon Lions Club where he served on several committees and delivered eyes to the Eye Bank; and the American Legion. He loved gardening, growing flowers, watching parades, and boating on the Lake of the Ozarks. Other survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Cathy and Preston McDaniel, Kansas City; and Carol and Michael Gilmore, Jefferson City; three granddaughters, Jenny McDaniel Lubeck and her husband Eric, OFallon, IL; Laurie McDaniel, Kansas City; and Shannon Gilmore, Jefferson City; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence F. and Eileen Fick, Linn; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Monsignor Leonard J. Fick and Jerome J. Fick. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2007, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick G. Dolan officiating. Entombment with full military honors will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 26th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church Building Fund, 1206 E.
