George William Hodge

George William Hodge, 79, of Jefferson City, died Friday, November 14, 2014, at St. Mary's Health Center surrounded by his family. He was born July 10, 1935, in Vichy, Missouri, the son of the late Frank S. and Almeta (Hodge) Hodge. He was a 1953 graduate of Maries R-1 Vienna High School; he received his Bachelors degree in 1961, Masters degree in 1971, and his Educational Specialist degree in 1975, all from University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg. George served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was united in marriage on November 18, 1961, at Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna to Marcella Clara Bocklage who still survives. George spent over 30 years working for the Maries R-1 School District as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent. He later worked for the Department of Corrections as an institutional activities coordinator. George was baptized in the Methodist faith. George's hobbies included reading, traveling, watching sports, and especially spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Marcella, he is survived by five children, Eric Hodge, Brian Hodge, Sheila (Ron) Logan, Cindy (Bill) Wibberg, Teri (Chad) Tillinghast, all of Jefferson City; and six grandchildren, Payton Logan, Devyn Logan, William Wibberg, II, Riley Wibberg, Trent Tillinghast, and Samuel Tillinghast. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Hodge. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Friday, November 21, 2014, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell Perkins officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. till 12 Noon Friday, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
