Genevieve Cecilia Gilbreth

Genevieve Cecilia Gilbreth, 82, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, August 11, 2013, at St. Joseph Bluffs in Jefferson City. She was born on January 3, 1931, near Miami, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Charles Herman and Marguerite Cecilia Osborne Baumann. She was married on October 27, 1951, in Joplin, Mo. to Robert Thomas Gilbreth who preceded her in death on April 27, 2010. A 1948 graduate of St. Peter High School in Joplin, and a 1950 graduate of Joplin Junior College, Mrs. Gilbreth was employed in the offices of Lincoln University from 1968 to 1977. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church; past president of the Immaculata Club; past president of the Antique Club; and past president of the Family & Community Education Association. She was also neighborhood chairwoman of the National Association for Girl Scouts of Immaculate Conception; volunteer with the Samaritan Center; enjoyed several bridge groups; and was a member of the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma. Survivors include six children, Elizabeth Beach, Jefferson City; Meryl A. (Thomas) Antweiler, Jefferson City; Stephanie M. (Alan) Ward, Jefferson City; Susan E. "Sue" Reed, Jefferson City; Robert T. (Jo) Gilbreth, II, Denver, Colo.; and Michael S. (Elizabeth) Gilbreth, Jefferson City; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Baumann; two sisters, Pearl M. Johnson and Ella Faye Royer; and one son-in-law, Mike M. Reed. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory C. Meystrik and the Rev. Donald J. Antweiler concelebrating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Peter Church Building Fund, 216 Broadway, Jefferson City, MO 65101; or Samaritan Center, 1310 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City, MO 65102.
