Gail Ellen Wekenborg

Gail Ellen Wekenborg, 72, of Holts Summit, Mo., died Friday, March 10, 2017, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born on August 14, 1944, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Hardie Louis and Lorretta Haak Wilson. She was married on January 28, 1967, in St. Louis to Thomas Lee Wekenborg who survives at the home. Mrs. Wekenborg was a 1962 graduate of Affton (Missouri) High School, and received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree from the University of Missouri in 1966. She was employed for many years with the State of Missouri, retiring as Deputy Director of the Office of Administration. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, held various offices with the United Methodist Women, and served as president during her college years of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She enjoyed cooking, canning, flowers, and helping kids in her community. Most especially she loved her grandchildren. Other survivors include two children, Timothy James (Erinn) Wekenborg, Glenwood, Arkansas; and Michala Anne (Zolti) Wekenborg-Tomka, Holts Summit; two grandchildren, Gerrad Gunier and Whitlee Tomka; one step-granddaughter, Oceann Carey; and one brother, David (Sandi) Wilson, St. Peters, Mo. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Gerrad Wekenborg; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Tomka. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Daniel Hilty officiating. Burial will be in Meng Cemetery in Holts Summit. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
