GLADYS ELLEN ARMSTRONG

Gladys Ellen Armstrong, 82, formerly of Wardsville, passed away at 10:55 AM on Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at Perry County Memorial Hospital, Tell City, IN. She was born on Nov. 28, 1922, in Dixon, MO, the daughter of the late Jesse and Edna (West) Vineyard. She was married on June 7, 1946 in Ft. Lewis, WA, to C.J Les Armstrong who died on Jan. 14, 1994. Mrs. Armstrong retired in 1984 as a statistician for the Missouri State Highway Department where she had been employed for twenty-one years. A homemaker, she was a custom seamstress and dressmaker in earlier years. She was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing, flowers, crocheting, and ceramics. She was especially fond of her dog, Mandy. Survivors include two Daughters and their husbands, Peggy and Bill Schoene, Tell City, IN; and Kathy and Jim Koeneman, Lees Summit, MO; one son and his wife, Larry and Jean Armstrong, Wardsville; six grandchildren and spouses, Caty & Chad Wiegman; Kevin Koeneman; Kelly Koeneman; Jenny and Pat Hood; Erin Armstrong; and Brad Armstrong; two great-grandchildren, Zac Armstrong; and Elaina Hood; and one brother, Raymond Vineyard, Dixon, MO. She was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Vineyard. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville, with the Rev. Gregory L. Meystrik and the Rev. Michael A. Coleman officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Wardsville. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 6418 Route W., Jefferson City, MO 65101-9702; Perry County Memorial Hospital, No. 1 Hospital Road, Tell City, IN, 47586; or Jackson County CASA, 625 E. 26th Street, Kansas City, MO 64108.
