GEORGE EDWARD CHARLTON, JR.

January 23, 1931 — December 22, 2004

George Edward Charlton, Jr., 73, of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, MO. He was born on January 23, 1931 in Ft. Monroe, Virginia, the son of George Edward, Sr., and Mary Alice Ollice Charlton who preceded him in death. He was married on July 20, 1951 in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Claudette Jean Warfield who survives at the home. Other survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Deborah and Tom Frank, Jefferson City; and Toni M. Charlton, Jefferson City; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Annette Charlton, OFallon, MO; and Kelly and Leslie Charlton, Jefferson City; eleven grandchildren; one sister, Mary Anne Williams, Suffolk, Virginia; and one brother, John L. Charlton, Sr., Portsmouth, VA. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2004, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert H. Fields officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be noon to 3 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109 (573/893-5251). Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1206 E. A 1949 graduate of St. Paul High School, Portsmouth, Mr. Charlton served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict earning the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Camp Stars; the United Nations Service medal; and the Missouri Korean Conflict Medallion. He retired in 1981 as a superintendent with United Steel Erectors and was a member of Steelworkers Local 396, St. Louis. An active hunter and fisherman, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5; and was active with the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and 4H.
