GENE WESLEY ARRAS

July 13, 1925 — June 16, 2007

Gene Wesley Arras, 81, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Oak Tree Villas. He was born on July 13, 1925, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Eugene and Florence Kansteiner Arras. He was married on Sept. 3, 1949, in St. Louis to Angelina Mary Arras who died on Sept. 7, 2000. A graduate of Normandy High School in St. Louis, he received the Bachelor of Arts degree and Juris Doctor degree from St. Louis University. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as armorer/gunner with the Fifth Air Force, 90th Bomb Group in the Pacific theater where he flew twenty-nine missions and was shot down twice. Mr. Arras was an attorney for thirty-five years with the former Union Electric Co. in St. Louis. He later served as prosecuting attorney for the City of Florissant. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral; National Rifle Association; Missouri Bar Association; and was chairman of the National Right-of-Way Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gene S. Arras, Jefferson City; and Kurt G. and Karen Arras, Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Renee H. Adams, Raleigh, NC; and Lynn F. Marty, Jefferson City; seven grandchildren, Sarah Valerie; David Marty; Elizabeth Epperson and her husband, Jonathan; Eric Marty; Gene Arras; Lauren Arras; and Mary Celeste Arras. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007, at St. Joseph Cathedral with the Rev. Jeremy A. Secrist and the Rev. Dennis Doyle officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Carmelite Monastery, 2201 W.
