GARNAVIEVE IRENE ROBERTS

August 9, 1912 — March 22, 2006

Garnavieve Irene Roberts, 93, formerly of Denver, CO, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at St. Marys Health Center. She was born on Aug. 9, 1912 in Norwich, IA, the daughter of Frank Lawrence and Fern Irene Burt Beeson. She was married in August, 1933 in North Platte, NE to Roland Shreeves Roberts who died on March 29, 1982. She attended elementary school in Red Oak, IA and graduated from Greeley High School in 1927. She attended Colorado State College for three years. In 1933 Garnavieve and her husband moved to Denver, CO where Roland taught high school for thirty years while she was a homemaker and mother. In 1961 she served as vice-president and treasurer of Denver Brass and Copper Company which was founded by her father and which she co-owned with her brother, Millard Beeson. She was a member of Central United Church of Christ, Jefferson City, and a former member of First Plymouth Congregational Church in Englewood, CO, where she was active with the churchs Book Review Club. She was a long-time patron of the Denver Dumb Friends League Animal Shelter; Denver Museum of Natural History; and Denver Art Museum. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy R. and Iris Roberts, Jefferson City; one grandson and his wife, Morgan and Amy Roberts, Newtown, CT; two great-grandsons, Maxwell Henry Beeson Roberts and Oscar Charles Roberts; one brother and his wife, Millard and Sandi Beeson, Aurora, CO; one nephew, Kirk Beeson Phoenix, AZ; and two nieces, Cameron Story, Rome, GA; and Garnavieve Beeson, Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Allen Beeson. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2006, at Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, CO with the Rev. George C. Anastos officiating. Memorials are suggested to Denver Dumb Friends League Animal Shelter, 2080 S. Quebec Street, Denver, CO 80231; or Denver Art Museum, 100 W. 14th Parkway, Denver, CO 80204.
