Frank William Benedict, 85, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center. He was born on May 2, 1918 in Chamois, the son of Joseph Charles and Caroline Margaret Schollmeyer Benedict. He was married on April 14, 1956 in Jefferson City to Mary Louise Cooper who died on Nov. 24, 1991. Mr. Benedict is survived by one sister, Josephine M. Kliethermes, Jefferson City; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Annie Swehla, Edith Keilholz, Dora Keilholz, Florence Boss, Sophia Olsen, and Carrie Jacobs; and two brothers, John Benedict and Harold Benedict. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at St. Joseph Cathedral with the Rev. Frederick J. Elskamp officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Helias Foundation, POB 694, Jefferson City, MO 65102. He received his elementary education at Busse Public School and Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School, both in Chamois, and later attended business school at Lincoln University. Mr. Benedict was employed for six years with G & H Electric Company, Jefferson City, as an accountant, salesman, and installer. He later was employed for fifteen years with A.E. Fisher & Sons Company, Jefferson City, as an accountant. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 79th Division, 313th Infantry, in the European Theater where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral and the Cathedral Mens Association; and was a life member of Roy Sone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1003; Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post No. 5; and Oliver Buerle Disable American Veterans Chapter No. 17.
