Francis Joseph Schulte

Francis Joseph Schulte, 93, of St. Martins, died Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. He was born on April 19, 1920, in Cole County, the son of the late Henry Joseph and Anna Clara (Baumann) Schulte. Francis was a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II serving from February 2, 1942 thru October 18, 1945. During his service to his country he fought at the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was united in marriage on November 25, 1947, in St. Martins, to Rosemary Theresa Distler who still survives. Francis was a lifelong dairy farmer and also had worked for Central Dairy for 17 years retiring in 1985, Landwehr Dairy, and 7 Up Bottling Company. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Francis had a strong Catholic faith and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Other survivors include: thirteen children, Mary (Jerry) Rogers, Mexico, Mo; Albert Schulte, Jefferson City; Rose Ann Schulte, Jefferson City; John (Mary Jane) Schulte, Rich Fountain; Gregory (Mary Lou) Schulte, St. Elizabeth; Martha (Jerry) Slote, Eugene; Vincent (Diane) Schulte, Jefferson City; Joseph Schulte, Jefferson City; Toni (Mark) Pointer, Ashland; Theresa (Randy) Mengwasser, Holts Summit; Patricia Belt, Jefferson City; Thomas (Cindy) Schulte, Nevada; Juanita (Joe) Baker, Jefferson City; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph (Margaret) Schulte, Jefferson City; Alfred (Clara) Schulte, Jefferson City; and one sister, Sr. Celia Schulte, Milwaukee, Wisc. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Helen and Joan Schulte; three brothers, and six sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon Friday, October 11, 2013, at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at St. Martin Catholic Church with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus, 600 Monroe Street Suite 100, Jefferson City, Mo 65101; Alzheimer's Association, 2400 Bluff Creek Drive, Columbia, Mo 65201; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
