FRANCES ALBERTA SCHMITZ

Frances Alberta Schmitz, 97, of Jefferson City, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at the Adams Street Place. She was born on June 14, 1910, in Cole County to Bartholomew H. and Anna Eva Wallau Wallendorf. Frances was the last surviving member of the Wallendorf family to be born and raised in the historic Wallendorf home. She was married on June 25, 1935, in Jefferson City to William Bernard Schmitz. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1974. Mrs. Schmitz was a licensed practical nurse with St. Marys Health Center. Frances was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, prayer line with St. Peter, and various quilting clubs including St. Peters, St. Josephs, and Central United Church of Christ. Survivors include: five sons and their wives, William and Mary Schmitz, Millersburg; James and Gail Schmitz, Germantown, NY; David and Judy Schmitz; The Rev. Mr. Fred and Magdalen Schmitz; Thomas Schmitz, all of Jefferson City; one daughter and her husband, Teresa and Dennis King, Kansas City, MO; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three daughters, Linda Grace Schmitz; Loretta Marian Schmitz; Mary Ann Thielbar; two sisters, Rose Mary Grzenkowicz; Mary Louise Schepker; and two brothers, Henry Wallendorf; and George Wallendorf. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday February 19, 2008, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
