Florence C. Meyer, 94, of Jefferson City, died Monday, August 17, at St. Joseph’s Home. She was born July 24, 1915, in Freeburg, Missouri, a daughter of Bernard J. and Bernadine A. (Vermoillen) Fechtel. Florence was a graduate of Freeburg High School. On October 15, 1938, she was united in marriage in Freeburg, Missouri, to Joseph F. Meyer, who preceded her in death on April 7, 1966. Besides her duties as a homemaker, Florence was employed at LaSalette Seminary for many years. Florence was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, where she was a member of the St. Joseph’s Women’s Association, St. Bridgid’s Quilters, Daughters of Isabella and past member of the Cathedral Choir. She helped deliver Meals on Wheels and was also involved in other volunteer activities. She was devoted to her family, faith and friends. She is survived by three daughters: Jean M. Schnieders, Virginia M. Meyer, Stephanie Gaffke and husband Greg all of Jefferson City; one son, Reverend Dennis J. Meyer, M.S. of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Irene E. Ring of Jefferson City; and one sister-in-law, Mary Lee (Fechtel) Esser of Sedalia, Missouri. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Pete Schnieders, Denise Convery, June Lammers and Jill Murphy; six great-grandchildren: Darius Schnieders, Mariel Schnieders, Shane Convery, Shelby Convery, Kurtis Lammers, Lindsey Murphy and numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was also preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Charles and Stephen Fechtel; and two sisters, Mildred Fechtel and Beatrice VonGruenigen. Visitation will be 4:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with Reverend Dennis Meyer, M.S. officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Missionaries of LaSalette, 4650 South Broadway, St. Louis, Missouri, 63111, and the Carmelite Monastery, 2201 West Main Street, Jefferson City, Missouri, 65109. Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, 3210 N. Ten Mile Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri.
