Fannie Alexandria Simmons, 91, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Saturday afternoon, at 4:15 PM May 9,2009, at the beautiful Adam Street Place in Jefferson City, MO. Fannie was born October 13, 1917, in Oneida, Arkansas, the daughter of John A. and Anna Bell Pittman Simmons. Fannie, her three brothers and two sisters grew up in Helena, Arkansas. She attended the public schools there. Ms. Simmons moved to Jefferson City, Mo. in 1945, to live with her brother Wilburn Simmons. Fannie's first place of employment after relocating in Missouri was Housekeeper for the Lester Frank Family, owner of Franks Clothing Store. Fannie had exceptional culinary skills, she was honored to cook for Governor John Dalton from 1962-1965, Adcock's Restaurant for over 18 years, Best Western Restaurant for 11years. Fannie was member of Second Baptist Church, Jefferson City, where she served in the Women's Missionary Union, Maude Johnson Circle, and made herself available to use her culinary skills when needed which was too numerous to mention. She was also a member of Church Women United and American Legion Tony Jenkins Post Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers, Wilburn, Robert and John Simmons, her two sisters, Mary Simmons Robertson, and Magnolia Simmons. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Cornell C. Sudduth officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
