Evelyn Margaret Dubbert

Evelyn Margaret Dubbert, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020. She died peacefully with her four surviving children by her side.

She was born October 11, 1929, in St. Elizabeth, Missouri, the daughter of the late Bernard “Ben” and Ledwina (Bax) Bode.

She was united in marriage on October 1, 1949, in St. Elizabeth to Cletus H. Dubbert who preceded her in death on August 4, 2009.

Evelyn worked side by side with her husband in the family business from 1962-1984. Evelyn worked at Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Education for 27 years and following retirement, worked at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City for ten years.

Evelyn was a woman of determination and generosity. Her home and her heart were always open to her family and friends, as well as those of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a woman of unwavering faith. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph where she devoted many hours to Perpetual Adoration. She provided generously to the Carmelite Monastery. Additionally, she volunteered throughout her retirement years at the Cathedral, the Missouri Catholic Conference, and the Samaritan Center.

Evelyn’s survivors include two daughters and two sons, Rose (Greg) Friederich, Eureka, MO; Patrick (Marsha) Dubbert, Kenneth Dubbert, and Nancy (Paul) Hoelscher, all of Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her daughter Donna, and her husband, Daniel Scheulen.

She is survived by ten grandchildren, Kyle (Bridgette) Dubbert, Ben (Kara) Scheulen, Jodi (Darryl) Winegar, Troy (Bernadette) Groner, Jami (Joshua) Buffington, Eric (Jacqueline) Groner, Bo Dubbert, Jessie (Daniel) Schwartz, Bo (Kelly) Hoelscher, and Leah (John) Kempker; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Surviving siblings include: Lorraine Oligschlaeger, Betty Lueckenhoff, Ramona Bax, June Groner, and Rachael Steele. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Mary Struemph Doerhoff, and two brothers-in-law, Fred Struemph and Jerome Oligschlaeger.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020, the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Catholic Mausoleum.

The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are required while in attendance.

Memorials are suggested to Masses, Cletus & Evelyn Dubbert Scholarship Fund at Helias Catholic High School, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the Cathedral of St. Joseph.
