Eugene Edward Pringer, 91, of Wardsville, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at his residence.
He was born January 3, 1928, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Benjamin G. and Lena (Wilbers) Pringer.
He was united in marriage on September 13, 1948, in Mary's Home to Geraldine Marie Doerhoff who preceded him in death on April 30, 2017.
Gene owned and operated Eugene Bus Service for over 20 years, was a meat cutter for DeBroecks Grocery Store and United Super, drove a truck for Rite Way Poultry, and was a farmer.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville and a member of the Over 50 Club. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family, riding through the countryside, playing cards, and going to the casino. Gene loved eating his wife's pies and still had some left in the freezer that he was able to enjoy even after her death.
Survivors include ten children, Rose Mary (Fred) Mertens, Wardsville; Ron Pringer (special friend, Sandy Witte), Jefferson City; Gary (Jackie) Pringer, Centertown; Arnold (Debbie) Pringer, Wardsville; Dale (Mary) Pringer, Henley; Roger (Betty) Pringer, Centertown; Donna Hurley (fiancé Laron Hilke), Holts Summit; Sandra (Curt) Sherman, Vichy; Randy (Ellen) Pringer, Jefferson City; Anna Mae (Pete) Kleffner, Jefferson City; 51 grandchildren and spouses; 51 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Bode, Osage Bend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine Pringer; daughter-in-law, Susan Pringer; son-in-law, Doug Hurley; two sisters, Ludvina (Edward) Rackers, Mabel (William) Bernskoetter; and six brothers, Oscar (Frieda) Prenger, Dave (Edna) Prenger, Ray (Pearl) Prenger, Monroe (Marie) Prenger, Walter (Margaret) Pringer, and Clete (Mary) Pringer.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Jefferson City with a prayer service at 2 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville with the Rev. I.C. Medina officiating.
Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.
