Ella Kathleen Ailor

Ella Kathleen Ailor, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. She was born September 22, 1921, in Advance, Missouri, the daughter of the late Frank and Mabel (Ellis) Johnson. Kathleen received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She was united in marriage on February 7, 1942, in Advance, Missouri to Edgar I. Ailor, Jr. who preceded her in death on March 15, 1999. Kathleen worked as an elementary teacher for over 32 years at various schools. She finished her education career at West Elementary School in Jefferson City. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she participated in numerous church activities, P.E.O. Chapter JB, Retired Teachers Association, and several China Clubs. Kathleen enjoyed painting china, gardening, traveling, and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: three children, Nancy (Mike) Curtis, Portageville, MO; Edgar (Susie) Ailor, III, Columbia, MO; Jim (Diane) Ailor, Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Jeanna (Keith) Swafford, Steve (Sandy) Curtis, Angie (Ben) Liess, Ed (Melissa) Ailor IV, Jamie (Kenneth) Caldwell, Jay (Rachel) Ailor; ten great-grandchildren; and two siblings, John Johnson, Bell City, MO; and Margaret Vedder, Ellisville, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Hester Johnson; and two brothers, George Johnson and Billy Johnson. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, at First United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeannie Martin-Dudenhoeffer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
