Elizabeth Georgiaetta Bauer

September 21, 1919 — August 15, 2016

Elizabeth Georgiaetta Fitzpatrick Bauer, 96, Freeburg, was called to her next journey on August 15, 2016. It is fitting that she passed on the Catholic Holy Day of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. As a steadfast and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Betty Bauer was the cornerstone upon which her family's love is built. Her life was a testament to her strength and devotion. Along with her devotion existed a joy and zeal for life, punctuated by her smile and wit. Elizabeth was born September 21, 1919, in Argyle, daughter of Daniel and Mary Kathryn (Schulte) Fitzpatrick. She was united in marriage September 4, 1939, in Argyle to August G. Bauer, who preceded her in death on May 24, 2001. Born to their 62 years of marriage were eight children: Lorene Reinsch (Norb), Cuba; Mary (David) Schwartz, Westphalia; Rita (Jim) Hinton; Margaret (Glenn) Stinson; Henry Bauer; Georgiaetta (Marvin) Klebba, all of Jefferson City. Two children were called to the Lord in their early years, Patricia Bauer Lock at the age of 27 and Kevin Bauer at the age of 17, and a daughter-in-law, JoAnne Bauer. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She has one surviving sister, Lucille Brune, Freeburg. Preceding her in death was a sister, Margaret Wansing, and brothers Henry, Clarence, Leonard "Jenky" and Lawrence "Larry" Fitzpatrick. Mrs. Bauer was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg her entire married life. As a young mother, she worked as a homemaker raising her children. Then for 17 years she enjoyed working alongside her friends and co-workers at Quaker Window in Freeburg. Never being one to sit idle, she then cleaned homes for many years. Known for her delicious cooking, family and visitors were always treated to a meal fit for royalty. She took great pride in everything she did and was never too busy to lend a helping hand. Her family's fondest memories are of Mrs. Bauer's love for music and dancing, and her joy in laughter with loved ones. Visitation for Elizabeth will be from 47 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Westphalia, with a prayer service at 3:30 PM. Her life will be celebrated in a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. Bill Debo as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, next to her beloved husband. Memorial contributions are suggested in the name of Holy Family School, P.O. Box 156, Freeburg, MO 65035; or to the Wishes of the Family. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Westphalia is in charge of the arrangements.
