Eleanor Lucy Edwards, 86, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Capital Region Medical Center. Eleanor had been a resident of Oak Tree Villa. She was born February 22, 1929, in St. Elizabeth, the daughter of the late William Joseph and Mary Henrietta (Borgmeyer) Kirkweg. She was united in marriage on August 22, 1953, to Delmar Thomas Edwards who preceded her in death on November 18, 1992. Eleanor began working for Tweedie Shoe Factory and later worked for the Jefferson City Police Department as an officer for 21 years. She also had worked for the Missouri Lottery for 10 years. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Eleanor prayed the rosary at least once a day and her Catholic faith was especially important to her. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of Eagle's Auxiliary. Survivors include four siblings, Clarence Kirkweg, Jefferson City; Alfred (Mary) Kirkweg, Centertown; Dolores (David) Bax, St. Martins; Delphine (Louis) Toebben, Taos; a sister-in-law, Anna Lou Kirkweg; a step-brother, Joseph Brauner; a step-sister-in-law, Loretta Brauner; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Rosalie (John) Hentges, Rita (George) Braun, Alvera (Marvin) Holliday, Alice (Linus) Patton; two brothers, Cornie (Geraldine) Kirkweg, Norbert Kirkweg; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Kirkweg; a step-brother, Walter Brauner; a step-sister-in-law, Ann Brauner; and her step-mother, Rose Brauner Kirkweg. Visitation will be 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
