Edward Gross, 97, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1920, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Jacob and Jennie (Miller) Gross. Both his parents were born in Poland. A 1938 graduate of Jefferson City High School, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Missouri. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Edward received the Silver Star Banner from the Silver Star Families of America from Governor Jay Nixon. He was united in marriage on Edwards birthday, December 6, 1947, at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City to Martha Ann Waters, who survives at the home. Edward was a supervisor for thirty-two years for the Missouri Department of Transportation as a Data Analyst. Edward was a dance instructor, a square dance caller for forty years, and loved to play his keyboard. He enjoyed gardening and watching boxing and football. His love of fishing extended to family vacations to La Paz, BCS, Mexico deep sea fishing. He was very interested in physical fitness and worked out at the YMCA almost everyday. In addition to his wife, Martha, Edward is survived by three daughters, Peggy (Dale) Edwards, Russellville; Rhonda (Greg Sanning) Sherwood, Jefferson City; and Kathy (Greg) Johnston, Leander, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several brothers and sisters. A private graveside service with military honors will be Friday, December 29, 2017, at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. John Kerr officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
