EVA MAY HARVEY

Eva May Harvey, 91, of Silver City, N.M., died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Belen Meadows Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Belen, N.M. She was born on April 4, 1918, in Erie, Kan., the daughter of the late Thomas Erskine and Glydias Valentine Clapsaddle Thurman. She was married on March 8, 1944, in Memphis, Tenn., to Robert Clark Harvey who survives at the home. She was a 1935 graduate of Galesburg (Kan.) High School and a 1937 graduate of Manhattan (Kan.) Business School. Mrs. Harvey was Executive Secretary to the Regional President of Montgomery-Ward in Independence, Mo. for twenty-five years. The couple lived in Alamo, Texas, from 1981 to 2009 when they moved to Silver City, N.M. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Alamo, Texas; American Business Women Association; and received the Independence, Mo. ABWA Business Woman of the Year award in 1969. She was a twenty-year volunteer with McAllen Regional Hospital, McAllen, Texas. Other survivors include three sons, Stephen (Dr. Ann) Harvey of Jefferson City, Mo. and Silver City, N.M.; Mark (Gina) Harvey, Linn Valley, Kan.; and John (Crystal) Harvey, Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren, Robert Harvey, Jefferson City; Jeff Harvey and Josh Harvey, both of Kansas City, Kan.; and Jonathan Harvey, Justin Harvey, and Kristin Schleicher, all of Minot, N.D.; one daughter-in-law, Jan Harvey, San Antonio, Texas; and two sisters-in-law, Elaine Thurman, Galesburg, Kan.; and Eleanor Thurman, Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by one son, Roger Harvey; two brothers, Ralph Thurman and Veryl Thurman; and one sister, Esther Greenwood. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Harvey officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1st, in Mount Hope Cemetery, Galesburg, Kan. Memorials are suggested to Casa Educational Building Fund, Silver City, N.M.
