EMMA LOU CARTER

August 21, 1929 — July 14, 2007

Emma Lou Carter, 77, of Carrollton, IL, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. She was born on Aug 21, 1929, in Kane, IL, the daughter of David Kentner and Verna Hedwig Settemaier Williams. She was married on Feb. 26, 1948, in Kane, IL to Richard Neil Carter who survives at the home. Mrs. Carter graduated from Carrollton High School in 1947 and was a devoted farmwife and homemaker. She was a member of Carrollton United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Sunshine Circle; past president of the Greene County Extension Service; and a 4-H leader for over twenty years. Along with her four daughters, she was a member of Apple Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved history, all sports, card games, traveling, painting, and writing poetry. Other survivors include one son, Dr. Jeffrey Carter, Dothan, AL; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Carter, Springfield, IL; twin daughters, Cathy & Melvin Musgrave, Griggsville, IL; and Christy & Kent Trimble, Jefferson City, MO; and Julia & Anthony Pezold, Ashland, IL; nine grandchildren, Andrew Musgrave and his wife, Beth; Tyler Musgrave; Lindsay Musgrave; Genta Trimble and her fianc, Jon Reep; Kyle Trimble; Brenton Carter; Reagon Carter; Emma Grace Pezold; and Ryder Pezold; and two great-grandsons, Braden Musgrave and Adam Musgrave. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and her brother, David Lee Williams. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at Carrollton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Wilfong and the Rev. Kent W. Trimble officiating. Burial will be in Carrollton City Cemetery, Carrollton, IL. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Carrollton United Methodist Church. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Carrollton United Methodist Church, 426 Maple Street, Carrollton, IL 62016; or the Emma Lou Carter Educational Scholarship Fund at Carrollton High School.
