Delbert Carpenter, 61, of Columbia, left this earth to meet his maker on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City surrounded by his family.
Delbert was born in Boss, Missouri to Rhoda Barton and Joe Carpenter on June 10, 1954.
He was married in 1998 to Linda Carpenter who preceded him in death.
Delbert worked for Mid City Lumber for many years in the lumber yard and as a driver. His boisterous laugh and joke telling could brighten any room or situation.
Survivors include his son, Timothy (Tara) Carpenter, Hallsville; step-son, Darrell (Gina) Smith, Blue Springs; three step-daughters, Twyla (David Berry) Smith, Columbia; Pam (David) Hodges, West Plains; Marilyn Calvin, Columbia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, Joe Carpenter, Jack Carpenter, Glenn Carson, Caroll Nickles; and three sisters, Linda Brummitt, Debra Swindler, Meloney Chipley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one brother, Bill Barton.
A celebration of Delbert's Life will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016, at 6 p.m. at the Eagle's Club in Columbia. Be prepared to party "Delbert Style."
