Delbert A. Krummen

Delbert A. "Hoby" Krummen, 86, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017, at his home after a long battle of Parkinson's. He was born November 24 1930, in Jefferson City, the son of John and Mathilda (Hake) Krummen. He attended Immaculate Conception School through the 9th grade, graduating from St. Peter High School in 1949. Delbert was united in marriage on April 23, 1955, at St. Peter Catholic Church, to Lucille Rackers who survives at the home. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served from 1951-1955, the last year in Korea. He began working for MoDOT in Feb. 1955, retiring in 1992. During that time, he worked in many places as a Senior Construction Inspector with roads and bridges. After retirement, he enjoyed light farming raising cattle, fishing, deer hunting, and card playing. His special moments were with his family and large family reunions. He will be missed by many. He was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He served as an usher, lector, Eucharistic Minister, Parish Council and School Board. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree and the American Legion. In addition to his wife of 61 years, Delbert is survived by four daughters, Linda (John) Rechtin, Kansas City; Karen (David) Purdy, Jefferson City; Debbie Whittaker, Kansas City; Diane Shireman, Lee's Summit; one son, Larry (Gina) Krummen, Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren, Beth (Johnny) Crocker, Dan (Emily) Lewis, Sara (Justin) Wiercinski, Katy (Joel) Kanne, Rebecca Cavender (friend John Beck), Brian Cavender, Maureen, Lucy and Peter Whittaker, and Regan and Anna Krummen; 7 great-grandchildren, Emma and Delaney Crocker, Claire and Jack Lewis, Luke and Hazel Wiercinski, and Eleanor Kanne; many special nieces and nephews; one brother, Ralph (Peggy) Krummen, Minneapolis, KS; and one sister, Mary Lou Wekenborg, Linn, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Omer and Dave; sisters, Venita Koelling and Erma Krummen; and two sons-in-law Brian Whittaker and Jeff Shireman. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial with military honor will be at the Resurrection Mausoleum.
