David Terry Broeker

David Terry Broeker, 73, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. Joseph Bluffs.

He was born January 26, 1948, in Hermann, Missouri, the son of Harvey William and Mabel Kay (Langenberg) Broeker.

David was a graduate of Linn High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Central Missouri with a double major in Political Science and Criminal Justice Administration.

He was united in marriage on November 23, 1985, at Central United Church of Christ in Jefferson City to Doris Ann Modelski who survives at the home.

David worked most of his career in the political field. He worked as a Campaign Manager and Coordinator several times, was a Government Transition Officer, Deputy Commissioner for the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Assistant to Governor Kit Bond, Senior Vice President of Preferred Dental Health Plans of Missouri, Assistant to State Auditors Kit Bond, Jim Antonio and Margaret Kelly, and former Director of the Missouri Division of Professional Registration under Governor Matt Blunt. Following his retirement from politics, he owned and operated DB Distribution Company and was the State Director of License Offices for Alternative Opportunities.

He served on the City of Jefferson Police Personnel Advisory Board, was a member of the Jefferson City Sunrise Optimist Club where he served as Vice President and President, he served as both President and Vice President of the University of Central Missouri National Alumni Association Board of Directors and was a member of the Linn Masonic Lodge #326, AF&AM.

David received the Optimist of the Year award, Outstanding Young Men in America award, Outstanding Young Civic Leader award, and was a National Delegate for the Secretary of Health and Human Services to the White House Conference on Aging.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Broeker, Jefferson City; son, Bart Broeker; two daughters, Katie (Scott) Wilbers, Jefferson City; Sarah Kay (Chris) Ison, Blue Springs, MO; three grandchildren, Dakota Broeker, Avery Wilbers, Aiden Wilbers; brother, Jim (Arlene) Broeker, Linn; sister-in-law, Linda Modelski; niece, Kristin Modelski, nephew, William Modelski; and his beloved granddog, Sophie Joe.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2021, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 12 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with Deacon Ed Stroesser officiating.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Catholic Mausoleum.
